Come on, we all know how full of lies manufacturers websites are. Example:

First, you have the people who are just Fanbois for no good reason. Either they bought it purely for the looks and see it sort of like an extension of their personality (kind of like a woman and her shoes/purse), or just because they've bought into the whole propaganda of Macs being a 'status' item, like a Rolex.

Then you have the people who see computers as tools to get a job done, and these people will get the computer & OS that is best at that job. Macs have the benefit of having better software than Windows for the more 'artsy' stuff. There's plenty of good software, but the biggest contenders here are Final Cut Pro (video editing), Logic Studio (audio recording/editing, although this is kind of a toss-up with Cakewalk Sonar for Windows IMO except Sonar has a higher learning curve), and Postscript support (to make printed fonts appear identical to what's on screen, which is important in publishing, advertising, etc...).

So really, if you want to do any of that stuff, you get a Mac. But if all you're doing is the standard home user type stuff like emailing, web browsing, listening to music, watching movies, writing up some papers, and maybe a bit of photo editing, it doesn't matter much which OS you use. Because even AmigaOS can do that just fine (and I don't think a single hacker in the world writes viruses for that!).

A lot of what I am hearing so far is not so much the Mac ver IBM PC debate but more of the Windows / Linux / OS10 debate. Is it more of a software war. So I guess the issue is with Microsoft or whoever to make a more reliable, stable, user friendly OS and "educate" its clients on how to effectively use their programs. The way I see it, it now becomes a marketing war. I have yet to see Mr. Bill Gates get his a$$ out of the shed and market his product the way Steve Jobs and the Apple crew are bringing their product to the world.

Shame shame Mr Gates. Are you that comfy with your $Billions$

heres my take on it, most people, and i mean like 90% of society doesn't give 2 f$?cks about how fast their system really is, if it is shiny and new, they'll buy it, look at the xbox 360 for example, a failiure rate of 54.2%, but people (myself included) will drop hundreds on something cause it's new and 'supposedly' the greatest. People who buy macs aren't into playing games or GPU intensive stuff, they want to use ipods and make movies. Macs are great if you like being ripped off (from most ppl on OCN's point of view) however, society really doesn't care about speed or usefullness. If its got shiny lights and they can pointout the obvious then they will sell. Like the macs i think come with a C2D's and they will prolly advertise it as something so new that it can literally process two things at once at mind bogling speeds of 2.2ghz (exageration), but you know what i mean. If you want to buy a new computer at bestbuy or something, they will go, 2.66gig processor and 4gb of ram wow! But they left out what prcoessor, could be i7 920 or P4, left out RAm type, bandwidth and timings.

Think about it, people put 3000watt subs into honda civics and buy dells. If it gets the job don't people will bury their head in the sand an follow the crowd.

The way i see it, people just don't give a ?%@k abuot how fast their computer is or how much it can do, if you word it right, then people will buy it. My uncle is in sales and can sell ice to eskimos

I own a MacBook because I like experiencing different types of technology. If you ever mess around with a Mac, you will immediately notice how simple, yet elegantly they are built. Also, programs that are written for Mac run beautifully... aka, photoshop. I have Photoshop on my PC and my Mac and even though the Mac is inferior from a hardware standpoint, it runs Photoshop noticeably smoother.

I dont understand how some people HATE Macs, when its better to be knowledgeable of both systems...
