They're implying that a 9400M GT is good for gaming, for starters. It's an onboard chip, and scores around 2000 in 3dmark06. Nearly all of that comes from the CPU score. It's hardly a gaming GPU.

The title gets me too. Gamers should rejoice about a mac? Don't make me laugh.

Mac, not intended for gaming, great for graphical design/multimedia
PC, able to do everything a Mac can do, plus games.

I personally would never use a mac (voluntarily) because im into games and other stuff the a PC is better suited for, i don't own an ipod, i have an iriver T30, so there is no apple software that i need. But again, everyone is different, does everyone have iriver T30's and play Crysis? no they don't. Mac hardware is fail IMO because you can get a PC laptop that packs alot more punch. And don't even get me started on ignorance, you just took my post wrong
Right, but those are two very different systems. And by the way, the top of the line Alienware is almost $4000, and when it's unplugged, all that gaming horsepower...is set to some discreet onboard video card, meaning that if you were playing a game, it becomes a slideshow. It also weighs more than 13 pounds, and gets hot as hell. Bring up iPods is unnecessary, and I honestly don't know why you would have iRiver and Crysis in the same sentence.
I play games on my MBP, (current games too) Operation Flashpoint 2, COD4, etc. and they work fine on my 9600M.
So yes - if you put a Mac laptop and a top of the line Alienware next to each other, sure there will be a difference. Not only does the most expensive Alienware almost cost 1.5K more than the most expensive Mac, it is much heavier, battery life is garbage compared to it, and it might as well be a desktop as you really can't play games without it plugged in.

Apple has been consistantly putting out new and inovative software that has literally changed the course of history, however they prices they ask for, on a relatively weak platform is a bit ridiculous IMO.
Certainly everyone is different, I've noticed you are very different than me, and voluntarily CHOSE to not use Macs, hell you seem to try and avoid them. I'm certain you haven't used OSX, because of how much you stated above that you "would never use a mac" and obviously are now talking out of your ass about something you haven't used.

Weak platform? Are you kidding? Core 2 Duo, Decent Video Card, and 2-4GB of RAM is enough to run just about everything these days, you might not max out "the latest game," but buying a Mac [laptop] isn't about gaming, it's about portability, stability, fuctionality, and performance. I've had my Mac laptop running for 2-3 weeks now, when I close the lid, and come back a little later within 3 seconds it's back to where I was, Wi-Fi working, it weighs under 5 pounds, my battery is phenomenal, and my productivity has shot up. I mainly use my desktop for gaming, and my Mac serves other purposes than just gaming (when you get a bit older you'll find there's more to life than just games). I also suggest you try a Mac, before making half-assed comments.

Okay this is getting a bit riduclous, I get it, you love your mac. I, don't, i have used OSX and i found it difficult and just gave up. By what i said with the iriver, Crysis and Ipods are: i have no need what so ever for a mac, you do. and the alienware is drawn back by the fundamental aspect of it being a laptop, my point is you have different needs, wants, income etc. macs work for you, not for me. you have your reasons for needing a mac, i have reasons for not needing a mac. Stop trying to push it onto me that im so ignorant blah, blah, blah because i don't see why macs are so useful and make me a real person, okay. With the money you would have spent on a MBP, i would have spent on an ATV or dirtbike. in hind sight i should have spent the money that i spent on my sig rig on something better.
If it makes you happy, im very jealous of your portable horsepower, i wish i could play games like that.
Actually, ignore that last line, cause i know you'll get all fired up about how im comparing a desktop to a laptop and how im ignorant and how thats not what macs are for and.....just save your fingers, i get it

Heh relax. I don't feel like replying to that whole tirade, I'm tired as hell, but I sure as hell do love my Mac. I spent $1400+AppleCare for it, so yeah, I think I'm using it to it's potential, and the amount I paid I think is justified by how much more I can do with it.

You didn't really get the OS, well that's hard to believe, it's simple, but can be more advanced if YOU make it advanced, but first time running, etc. etc. it's about as simple as they can be.

And honestly dude, laptops are not only about gaming.

And I'm done here
