Hello.
I do not understand why people run Mac and I have been trying to search but I can't understand. Why do some companies have only Mac computers? Why do people go to Mac? Is it because of security? Simplicity? Hate Windows? Thanks |

Like music people use it for Production since garage band. Uhh I think because of security is much more better because. You can't really get a virus with out allowing it just like linux you have to allow it.

Most companies that run Mac servers do so to incorporate with software packages for digital production such as graphic design and video or audio studios.
__________________Mac environments are industry standard in graphic design. Other people have them because they have aesthetically designed parts and look very professional and high quality. Many upscale offices have iMacs and bluetooth keyboards because they are cool. Other people have them because they hate PCs or think they are some kind of counter culture revolutionary and must buy the underdog brand for it's apparent "in the know" radiance. Ultimately it's just another computer that does the same things in a different manner.

many reasons. pc vs mac advertisement, stupidity, ignorance, lack of knowledge, experience with lack of knowledge etc. too many possible reasons. i'll give you two example, one of me and one of my family member. when i was young and not very knowledgeable i wouldn think the psu "enermax" would supply electricity to my pc the best due to its name. number 2, a family member once said to me his uncle is crazy with pcs and sent one to him from USA for 1k, he kept saying how fast it was and then the day came that i went to see it for myself, the man had no video card nor did his cpu even beat mines (his experience is base on feel rather then measurable speed, his feel was also based on how fast he opened internet explorer lol).
__________________i'm pretty sure your question already had a sort to say answer to it. why do people go buy AXE affect? its cause their stupid enough to think girls will rape them. its unfortunate that we live in a world full of deceit. but for the most part, its because young people don't have proper advisory, and as we grow older we become more experienced and smarter which then led us to being more selective and questioners.

![]() People in the music industry use macs for Logic Studio - one of the most advanced pieces of audio software in existence. It is also one of the most popular, if not the most. Photographers use it because of Aperture (the program not the camera feature) and its seamless integration with the operating system (mail, iCal etc). It can also very easily run on a laptop making it a portable program. Amateur home computer users have them for mainly simplicity. They ARE very simple to use, and there are LESS viruses for them (i didn't say none). They are also perfect for beginners since they are out of the box perfect. Since the operating system has also been designed to run seamlessly on the apple machines, you hardly ever get issues of compatibility in terms of hardware. It is also very easy for apple to keep OSX up to date with hardware, unlike on windows where it can take a while to get drivers etc. I beleive alot of people like people on OCN don't like macs because they are different, and in a way that is not suited to them. A recording engineer does not give a flying fork about how overclocked his system is, or about how he can put a pretty window in his computer to make it looks fancy. He just wants to be able to record and mix and digitally edit music. Macs fill this zone very well sine the Mac Pro really is a power house above alot of computers people have on this forum, and for a recording studio, the price tag does not matter in the slightest. The iMac is perfect for photographers since it is semi portable so can very easily be taken to a photo shoot in a mansion or something since it has a huge 24" screen built into the computer. This beats a laptop hands down because you can see the photos you are taking on a large scale and can see imperfections etc much clear. A macbook pro suites a business person very well since it is strong, looks posh (unlike the thinkpads which are dam resistent but a little ugly) which is necessary for a businessman's look and has features such as integration of the calendar, mail, address book, office etc. Also has inbuilt features for video conferencing. A mac mini is perfect for a family computer since it is very low maintenence, very low footprint and very simple to use. It is also hard to break! (trust me i have tried). They also make great loo roll holders if you ever manage to break one... There are loads of situations where macs are perfect. You just have to have an open mind, and see that macs are essentially identical to PCs. A better way to phrase your question would have been 'why do people run OSX', since a mac is just a normal PC.

For some users, it's because of tradition. My uncle bought himself a Macintosh SE back in the 80s because he wanted a graphical interface. He still uses Macs to this day for the most part. Apple used to give huge educational discounts, so lots of teachers use them because that's what the school systems often had. EDIT: To the guy who said Logic is the most popular, I think ProTools and Cubase are still more common, although Logic is a nice piece of software these days.

There are three catagories of Apple users:
1. "Its pretty!!" 2. "It just works" 3. Power user who uses it for its tools, and for the fact that they don't have to waste time doing things in linux.
