That's totally beside the point though, the 2 machines aren't comparable at all, the target market is totally different.

The mac really isn't too bad of a ripoff though, it looks really nice (both the monitor and the design). And yes, design is worth $500 to many many people.
Do you not get what I'm saying. It's not a rip off at all. The monitor tacks on more to the price.

For the people who need it, it's an absolutely insane deal.

Well with that card, it shouldn't be that much of an issue though you probably won't get high FPS on high settings either.

I think what FSF was referring to was the price tag.
$1159 for a 30" is insane...

Crazy. I could build a better/similar machine with less money. A lot less. Pre-built PCs = Fail.

It's actually more like $2350 for the 27" inch screen and i7, with RAM upgrades. The OP messed up by placing in overpriced RAM/HD upgrades to his system.

As I posted earlier, it's actually a pretty good deal. I tried to build a similar machine with a somewhat similar monitor and it wasn't that much cheaper ($300).

The only thing I'd say that is much better in that setup is the graphics card,
The iMac screen is still better I think (LED backlit), although the 30" is slightly larger and has a slightly larger resolution.
You also bought Windows 7 HP OEM which is like half the price of the retail.
If I was to be picky, I'd say buy Windows 7 Ultimate which is equiv to OSX as Apple only have one version.
Don't forget the speakers, keyboard & mouse, 3 year warranty, iSight camera and mic, wireless, and bluetooth, you left out the speakers, keyboard & mouse + wireless and bluetooth that comes with the iMac also.

It's capable of playing good games, but I don't think it would survive Crysis on max settings, perhaps medium or low settings, or medium/high settings on a lower resolution.

Technically you get these benefits if you build the computer yourself, buying from a store I'd guess most people pay around the price of the iMac if not more, because they don't know any better

I would be interested to see anyone find an All-in-one system better than the i7 iMac, I've been looking and can find nothing.

There are a few but most doesn't bother.
That price tag isn't very common either...lol

Well, I was intending to compare them to store bought computers, not DIY jobs, so therefore buying from OWC would have been unfair, also I didn't think I put a 2TB HD I thought it was 1TB.
I also added AppleCare ($169) which if subtracted is cheaper also.

Like I said just a minute ago, I'd be really interested to see all-in-one's that are capable of what the iMac can for a similar price.

Does your 27" have a 2560x1440 resolution, comparable to the 2560x1600 resolution of a 30" display?
I'd also point out again, the iMac is a LED backlit glossy IPS display, I don't think you'll get that for $350.
