Default Parallels or VMware Fusion Win 7 64bit?

I believe i read in the systems requierment and specs for Parallels that it would run 32 bit 7 but not 64 bit, just wondering if anyone knows for sure If either of the two will run 7 64 bit? Thanks

incase anyone needs to know this, VMware fusion 3 does support 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 and Parallels Desktop 4.0 only supprots 32 bit Windows 7.

So you're saying that the host, being OS X 10.6 has to be 64 bit? In order for me to run Win7 64 bit? A bit more elaboration would help.

Man im comfused here.. Is OS Snow leopard 32 or 64... i think is not like windows where you have 32 or 64.. i read on the apple site that it has capabilities or reading or dealing with 64 bit architecture to read more ram and such things but i cant seen if the actual OS is 32/64? Thanks for your insight. I guess ill just give each app a try andt try to run my win 7 copy on it.

It is *exactly* like windows having 32- and 64- bit versions.

10.6 is 64-bit. As long as you're running on a 64-bit processor, it will work!

Cool, thanks for your replies. Well i tried both trial software of Vmware and Parallels and they both run great. Just having some issues deciding between the two, Parallel works faster and VMware has the 3d support that allows windows Aero theme to work..full 7 experience. Maybe i need more than 2GB of ram for VMware Fusion to run better.

After some more reading on reviews i see alot of people saying that parallels is slow and crashes and that 4.0 is trash as well as it not being able to run office Access? Is this true, anybody have these adverse results with Parallels? In my experience i have issues running VMware, not sure again if its because i only have 2gb of ram on the system and only 1GB on the virtual machine but i would like everyone elses opinion that is running either or at the moment. Thanks

I use Parallels 4.0, running Windows XP and Vista in Parallels, Windows 7 64-bit installed in Boot Camp, and I've created a virtual machine in Parallels 4.0 from my Boot Camp partition.

That way I can dual boot into Windows 7, or just run it side by side with my Mac.
If your machine has limited RAM (2GB) then perhaps running 32-bit Windows 7 would be better? iirc 64-bit will use twice the amount of RAM than 32-bit Windows.

Any reason your wanting to install 64-bit Windows 7?

The only issue I can remember is that Parallels 4.0 has from time to time forgotten it's activated somehow, I can't use it until I shut down and then start up again.

Not sure why it started happening, but it's not a big deal for me.
