Here is how i justify the purchase of an iphone for myself. I had a 60gb video ipod that i had been using for a while, i just sold it for $300+, I have always wanted a blackberry but I didn't want to pay that much for a phone and a data plan for just a device that is good for e-mail, so a blackberry is around $300 and a 60gb ipod is $400 I believe and considering everything the iphone can do all in one device that not even a blackberry + a 5g ipod can do I consider the iphone a deal. People are not looking at the iphone the right way, I hear so many people saying "a $600 phone! Are you nuts!?" But although it sounds corny Steven Jobs is correct, this is not just a phone, it is an internet device "the best internet device on a phone ever", its an ipod "the best ipod ever" and a phone "the best phone ever" so to have all three of these things and more all in one device with these features it really is a deal in my mind.

ATT Is Cingular, nothing has changed just the name, and my friends and I have been nothing but satisfied with Cingular ever since they took over. Also its my hope that since ATT is taking over and trying to get started again they will offer a nice deal on a data plan or special plan for the iPhone.

its only cingular? im a verizon man im not changing carriers for a 600 dollar ipod. wow it had lots of gizmos wowzord not 600 bucks worth of them if you ask me. its a high priced psp with a touch screen lol

Its a fact that all the devices inside the iphone add up to at least $600 whether you can see that or not. I as well pay very little for a phone plan since I use to work for Nextel and have had a super cheap plan even after quitting that job but a device like this I have to have and will be switching.

Yes for you it's justified because you liked the `big` toys. I have a no name mp3 player that does me just fine and wasn't 300$. I also have cell phone that was free with signup. Guess what. They both do what yours does but much cheaper. Yes it's cool and please don't tell me that has no bearing on your decision as I'm sure it's a good % of your self justification here. Hell just having to post this to justify your purchase tells me your doubting it.

They both have 4 wheels, get you from point A to point B, it's just how flashy you wanna look getting there. For some they must but for me I could care less.

You have a point there, Ictinike. From now on, if anyone asks me why I got an iPhone? I'm gonna say "because it's cool as hell.".

It's just come to my attention that there's no way anyone could fight that.

On a separate notion: Isn't this the same thing we do when building a PC? Get more because it either looks cool or gets you there faster?
