Default Cell Ringtones?

I'm tired of the generic ringtones on my cell. I have some 15 second mp3 clips i've made and I'd like to use those, I dont want to pay 3 bucks for one.

I have a USB cable for my phone but i can't use it for ringtones for some reason. It will only allow me to access the memory card in it, but the ringtone files need to be on the built in memory.

Its an LG Shine VX-8700

Copy the files to your memory card, then once in the phone copy them to the phone?

Have you tried sending an email to your phone with a mp3 file attached? That's what I do with my LG env2.

Another thing you might try is recording them to your phone then using that as a ringtone.
Otherwise like said above.. copy to mem card then transfer from mem card to phone memory

I couldn't do the transfer because the ringtones were in a locked part of the phone, in a way to prevent people from being able ot get free ringtones.

I used a program called BitPIM to access the "hidden" files so to speak. Then just dropped the MP3's in the right folder.

Follow this guide. (for my series of phone at least..)

Does have USB port? A free program called P2k commander works with quite few phones.

I've used it before.

What matters is what carrier you have. Sounds like you have a more locked carrier like Verizon. Then it is almost impossible to get ringtones onto the phone.

If you can borrow a laptop, you can "link" the laptop to the phone via bluetooth, and transfer photo's, video, and ring tones that way.

Not true!

With Verizon on my enV, what I would do was send a picture email with an mp3 attached (the address was <myphonenumber> at vzwpix.net or something)

When the phone recieved it, I could then save the mp3 as a ringtone, and have it inside of my phone.

EDIT: With that said, Verizon's limit on ringtones that way was about 2MB I think.

Thats OK, my 30 second ringtones were under 500kb.
