Love my iPod touch. I reccomend it highly. Sometimes it gets warm from a combination of holding it in your sweaty hand, and that it gets warm after about 2 hours of use. Youre eyes don't last that long however looking at that tiny screen.

Only if you jailbreak it. My opinion has always been the the iPod Touch was rather pointless since it's basically an iPhone without the phone (but this is coming from someone with an iPhone, so...). I would say only get it if you also want an mp3 player, it's kind of a waste to use just as a dedicated internet device when something like a netbook would be more appropriate.

I thought about a netbook but the ones I like are around £300, the iTouch is around half that.

I got a 16gb Gen2. Once jailbroken to OS3, it's very fun. Shame Flash support is lacking, although I heard they are working on it.

But for sitting in my lounge browsing the Interwebs is great!

I don't think it's worth it at all. I have an iPhone that I couldn't use for the last two weeks because Yellowsnow wouldn't unlock it, and I'm in Beirut on vacation so using an ATT sim card would wipe out my bank account.

Anyway, I couldn't help thinking that without internet access absolutely everywhere it is a useless device. As an MP3 player, let's just say that even a $25 Sansa Clip sounds a million times better. As a web browser it's slow and you really won't be comfortable using it for more than just quick information lookups (like if you see something in a store and you want to check the price online - which you can't even do on the ipod).

If you were asking about an iPhone then I'd say sure, go for it. But the iPod Touch? Not worth it at all IMO. Get a Cowon S9 and a good pair of earbuds, you'll enjoy it much more.

I find the browser perfect for a quick lookup on clearance items in stores :P
Wifi is usually pretty fast for Safari. I watch full length movies on mine while I'm flying, riding shotgun, love listening to music, going to youtube on it. It's a handy device. The apps really do expand on the features though.
