Wifi is usually pretty fast for Safari. I watch full length movies on mine while I'm flying, riding shotgun, love listening to music, going to youtube on it. It's a handy device. The apps really do expand on the features though.
My point exactly! But how do you do that without a 3G/EDGE connection?

But like I said the sound quality on it sucks big time, and the S9 is nicer to browse on since either way you're limited to Wifi connections.

IIRC, you can get a Dell Mini 10 (Atom N270, 1GB RAM, 8GB SSD) for ~£200 (VAT included), which puts it right between the 8GB and 16GB iPod Touch models. If I was getting something only for getting on the internet throughout my house, that would be my choice. If you plan on taking it anywhere to use the mp3 player feature at all, the iPod (or a Cowon) would be a better choice, though.

Okay thanks guys to EVERYONE that posted a reply.

I'll add a poll. But I like the iPod touch, is jail breaking easy and is it worth it or are there MASSIVE disadvantages?

Jailbreaking is a piece of cake. There are video tutorials everywhere on YouTube and many great tutorials that walk you right through it.

You could also get a netbook for similar price that would do more than just internet. That said, I love my iPod Touch. I love using it for internet. I had it jailbroken which was great for some things, but made mine much more unstable. More crashes, not as fluid in animations, etc. I just upgraded to OS 3.0 and so far it has been pretty nice to use. The apps from Cydia never did anything I really needed except for Backgrounder to run apps in the background.

edit: I have the 16gb version. If you want to do movies, the 16 or 32 is the way to go. You can usually get Apple direct refurbs for great prices. They completely replace the casing and other parts so it is pretty much brand new.

For a portable entertainment device there is nothing better. I have a first gen jail broken (a must), defiantly worth it's price tag.

Does it have Wifi support? It doesn't say anything about it on their site.

Does it have any CF slots or anything?

They certainly look darn pretty.

OP: you could wait till September for the Tegra based Zune's to come out. They look really slick.

Thanks for ALL the help guys and to those who voted in the poll.

The refurbished deals seem great, but why are they so cheap? Does the screen get replaced? I read it only as the battery and the case being replaced. Does the screen count as part of the case? If so, I'll get the 16GB one.
