You can inspect the two slider rails visually if you take the battery out,
Mine moves pretty freely. You are right, it is closer to 1/16" than 1/8" of keypad showing, but it doesn't take more than picking it up to cause the twist. No force needed.

Yeah, the tolerance isn't very tight on the slider, but mine barely moves and I have to force it to get it to move. My friend's Pre is the same way. Neither of ours seems to be getting worse though.

There are only two rails, the rest of the holding is done with 2 small fingers that brace against the edge around the mirror. The fingers are short though, so lifting up on the screen makes them loose their grip.

Guess this thread could use a bump. Still loving my Pre. The Homebrew apps for it are very well developed now at precentral.net, I've been using Wifi, USB and Bluetooth tethering on my laptop and it works great!

Yea I tossed the dev a donation for the full version of my tether...

Imagine my friends surprise when his Iphone has no 3G service and I chime in and say "hey connect to the wifi router with your first and last name as the id"

Preware has some great patches and makes apps so easy... plus the terminal app beats having to jump to a PC with wifi and putty to get into my pre to make changes... best phone I have ever used... just wish I could get another 6 hours of battery life :P

Yeah, I might drop the cash for the latest version of MT too, though I use USB tethering the most, which the older version does fine.

I'm already thinking about getting the Pixie when it comes out. Especially if they have visual voice mail on it (I really loathe the dial-in system for voice mail).

It's been requested as a homebrew app at precentral, but everyone is saying it can't be done on the Pre
