Default iPhone jailbreak help for a big Apple noob.

My friend just traded me his iPhone 2g. I checked the firmware and it's:

04.02.13_G

The phone is already jailbroken. So how can I update to the lastest firmware and jailbreak again?

Thanks,

-sawx

Should I upgrade to the non jailbroken 3.0.1? Will it brick my iPhone? iPhone 2g BTW.

im running a 2.0 iPhone with firmware 3.0 and its jailbroken.

Problem is that the newest firmware does not allow you to jailbreak currently.

Just broke my phone two days ago maybe and it isnt hard. Make sure to use the 3.0 firmware and you will be fine. iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore is the firmware you want and redsn0w-win_0.7.2 is the program i used to do it.

This will walk you through it:

ah one more thing that took me a bit to find out. When updating to new firmware on iTunes using windows hold down select and click restore then select this file iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore to update to the correct firmware and not the newest one.
