Default Stuck with a Blackberry

I am stuck using a Blackberry 8700C. The phone sucks IMO and doesn't have the functionality I want. I wish to be able to IM friends, browse the web, maybe play a few games, check email, cruise into OCN from time to time.

I do not have the data package but have found a way around it to gain net access. I do not know if I am being charged for my internet usage or if the workaround I used bypassed AT&Ts data plan service and it's truly free now that I am ussing Opera Mini 3.1
(I cannot get the newest version to download since the blackberry browser doesn't work since I do not have the data plan)

Am I wasting my time? I do not wish to hear suggestions to buy a new phone. Every carrier wants a $750-$1000 deposit to begin a new contract even though my credit is most likely better than the rep who wants to sell me the phone but that isn't even the point. The point is that in the end, it's a phone. I can do without it. But it makes time pass by at work having it.

Also, anything that I want to use on this phone must be free.

I would rather be bored then potentially be running up a huge bill.

By not having a data plan and bypassing the provisions, you could subject yourself to pay-per-use data, meaning after a few MB, you will greatly surpass the cost of a BlackBerry Data plan. I honestly think you should bite the bullet and add a data plan to your bill. You could then just pick up a used smartphone on Ebay, Craigslist, etc.

I love my Pearl, well sorta/kinda. But I got tax's to file out and money to be gotten so I am getting a Curve 8330. I pay a bit over 82/month with the data plan plus the bonus phone stuff, call waiting and the like. But I also have HUGE lists of music and books and I am always looking for more so I carry around a csv of my music/book list and I can read it on my BB. Plus this is supposed to be for work too, which reminds me...gotta make biz card 1st.

I got an email/chat plan but had to pay 5 more for the data plan because I found that it was not much and would be ok to have. I don't know where you live, or who your provider is but there should be some sorta better plan for talk/chat/mail that you can get. I am gonna really like the full kboard cause of my big hands and of course I need a camera and media player....which the 8700 doesn't seem to have.

If you don't want to pay, sell it, get an iTouch, and use Wifi access points for Internet.
