I decided to keep the iPhone despite AT&T sucking. I also want to jailbreak. The phone is a 3GS but has 3.0.1 OS installed, not 3.1. So with the 3.0.1 can I jailbreak? I can't seem to find a straight answer or a tutorial on how to do it, just the 3G with 3.0 OS.

Not sure about the jailbreaking (OmegaNemesis28 should be able to help you with that), but the software, iTunes, can be used on both Mac or PC.

Should have to get firmware 3.0 (downgrade from 3.0.1) you can do that bu downloading the old firmware and then holding shift while clicking restore in itunes.
Select the old firmware then let it do its thing. After that: http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news...0-redsn0w.html

Anyways, thanks everyone who posted, I think I might have found what I was looking for which is basically what LuckySe7ens said. It just looks like I can't upgrade to 3.1 using Pwnage Tool without a Mac.

Looks like it was successful. Cydia is down loading a couple updates and then I will test it out and see what happens.

you can update to 3.1 as long you have trusted friends or website that PWNed the firmware for you. =)

Jailbreak on 3.0.1, then you can use PwnageTool on a Mac to update to 3.1 without touching the baseband.

Yeah, the JB was successful and really easy. Just downloaded the 3.0 firmware and then downloaded redsn0w. Ran redsn0w and it pretty much took care of everything. Took about 3 minutes.
