My Touch Pro 2 is coming tomorrow and I want to get my hands on it as soon as possible.
How important is the first charge of the phone? And what steps do i NEED to avoid? Can I play with it while it's charging? Does it have to be a continuous charge or can I charge it for like 3 hours then move it somewhere else to charge? How long is this first charge ? 24 hours ?

the best way to maximize the life of the battery is to run the battery completely down (before the first charge). Then fully charge it. Do this three to five times.

I had the HTC touch pro... when i first got it i charged it for 3 hours, i'm sure if you played with it while its charging it wouldn't do any harm. The battery life always seemed okay after the first charge.

Yeah, the newer batteries (i.e. last 5 years at least) aren't nearly as susceptible to the 'memory' effect. Even the newer NiMH batteries are more resistant. I usually let mine drain out after the first full charge and from then on I don't worry about it.

If its a lithium ion (Li-ion) battery memory effect is not an issue. Just plug it in and charge it up and dont worry about it.

Your phone will have a Li-Ion battery, so it really shouldn't matter. I always fully charge my phone as soon as I get it though, just out of habit. Haven't had any issues

Should 3 hours of charge be fine? As I plan on taking it out to study but charge at the same time at the library. As some of you say the Li Ion batteries won't be effected by it.

What I have done for years, is let the battery drain completely when you get it, then let it charge fully. I have noticed that the battery longevity of WM powered phones that I have had have lasted longer when I do this. But the choice is yours.
