heatlesssomethingorother on hardforum really enjoys his HTC Touch Pro 2. They didn't cripple that. Although it's still Windows Mobile which means resistive screen and the hardware's still old news AFAIK.

For me the big draw's the updated hardware, Android 2.0, Moto call quality/build, WVGA capacitive screen, and the QWERTY.

And this is the company that wants to draw you in with high speed technology and then will sucker punch you with bandwidth caps and surcharges. LOL, Like buying a Ferrari and then only allowed a gallon of gas at a time, at a premium.

From the same article:

"Even if it's not what people want to hear, it might be a plain truth that all large ISPs may move down the path of metered bandwidth."

This has been coming to all wifi carriers for awhile now. It's just a matter of time.

Honestly, that's so far off topic from our phone and so obviously a lame attempt to throw crap at this phone and/or Verizon, I have to wonder why you even bothered to post. The only thing you've succeeded in doing's breaking up the flow of this thread and what good does that do?

Please take your off topic negativity somewhere else. We're excited about the release of a phone on a network that works for us. If you'd like to discuss that, please, by all means, join us. But please keep it on topic so we can have a useful and fun thread to come to on a day to day basis, ok?

If this phone is as good as the hands-on, I'm going to have an incredibly difficult time trying to choose between this and a BB 9700

What could be better than a completely open platform to pretty much develop whatever the heart desires?

Also, in the same article, and common knowledge, is that Comcast has piloted their caps as early as a couple years ago. So yeah, way off topic.

I am suffering with a crappy LG Voyager right now this news could not have come at a better time, I am due for an upgrade in March. I have been wrestling with biting the bullet and getting an iPhone even though I would A) look like a silly "hip" person, and B) on one of the worst cell carriers around, AT&T/Cingular. I was with them for 2 years once, never again......plus, the 3G coverage map doesn't lie.....no matter how cool the phone is, if you can't use it than who cares?

I heard rumors that Verizon was looking at getting a REAL iPhone competitor out by Q4 this year, can't wait to see this thing in action.

Same situation here. ATT's been getting better and this' the breaking point for me. If they don't get it right this time, I may well move over. I just can't handle it anymore!

I'm intrigued by this Android thing. I'm personally an iPhone owner, and some of the boasts of the Droid (keyboard, for example) are one of the things I liked about the iPhone.

Not a hater though. Verizon needs a great phone. Open platform is nice as well, but that also increases chance of viruses, etc. Right?

Apple can limit that with the iPhone because they control your way of getting the Applications...

I hope the thing is awesome. I love my iPhone, not parting ways with it, but I love seeing sick technology.

+rep for google.

I wouldnt get the BB9700 in my opinion...thing is freakin small as heck. I'd rather take the BB 9000 if I had a choice between the two. I'm definitely getting the droid as my next phone and can't wait for it to come out.
