T-Mobile is GSM. Verizon is CDMA. The specs aren't anything to get wild about though. Android does have the tendency to underwhelm when it comes to low tech specs. Seems like the Droid is following suit. The Droid has a 550-MHz processor, according to the site, which didn't describe the processor architecture. The architecture is important because most Android phones up until now have run on 528-MHz ARM11 processors, which some users consider sluggish in some circumstances. The recently announced Samsung Moment upped the ante to an 800-MHz ARM11. If the Droid runs a newer form of architecture, known as the Cortex-A8, it could be faster with a lower clock speed. If I were you, I'd keep my eye on the HTC Leo/HTC Pro Three.

It's a freaking monster of a phone and has generated monster amounts of buzz on howard forums. The've gone through at least 2 pre release and are now on #3 threads. There's at least 2 to 3 insiders w/ wonderful comments like, "guy working on phone now hasn't been this excited about a phone in years...can't stop talking about." It's even going to get flash on the browser next year. Go read up on the BGR preview today, they actually said it gets the best battery life of any Android phone out yet! I mean, what the hell...damn, that's a sexy phone...I can't wait to rub it...and...damn, I'm in full on fanboy fanatic mode, aren't I? Haven't slept in a LONNNNNG time...maybe I'll go do that.

Yeah, but there have been so many iPhone killers that are hyped and then flop. BB Storm anyone? We'll have to wait and see.
Looks like they're making a GSM variant, so there is hope for Sistum Id. I'll keep my eye on this one and the Leo.

Anyway, the Verizon guy I talked to the other day said that the Droid will be around 400 dollars... I don't remember if that's the full price or the 2-year plan price, but either way that's a bit out of reach here.

Was my 1st real honest to goodness smartphone so I THOUGHT it was awesome. Until I started to really use it. Then I started to get frustrated...angry...pissed...eventually I developed a pure hatred for the device. It's possessed by demons. There's no other explanation. The Storm 2 will still be a terrible, terrible and LONELY browsing experience on an ARCHAIC operating system.

As I said, I don't remember if that's the full price or the 2-year plan price. Wait for something official.

------- Generally the higher price point is if you want to buy it unsubsidized. Subsidized pricing requires a contract, hence you getting the phone for cheaper. This phone does look good on paper, so we'll have to see when we can actually get our hands on one. I now have two phones to keep my eye on.
