It looks like the paint is beginning to rub off.

as i said before you could make a genius appointment and complain they will endup giving you a new one. if it is still under the 1 year warranty.
you could try to clean it with a soft cloth and see if it will take it off.

No. Bad idea. Anything like that or anything oil based will ruin the plastic.

I have a silicon case on my ipod touch, and I have the same marks except a lot more of them. I haven't been able to get them off...

I had the same problem when I used a casing for my iPhone, but i always took it out every 2-3 weeks, took a wet cloth and cleaned it. I think the white substance is due to dust trapped between ur casing and the black phone cover which over a long time start to scratch on one point. But i might be wrong, i removed my cover completely and now using it naked. = ) i still think the iPhone looks best when naked. =)

If you can't fix it, MOD it !!
Give it some nice airbrushing treatment

O.o
Thanks for all the input guys! I'm glad other people have had the same problem too. Puts me at rest a bit, lol. I have a one-year warranty + one-year of Apple Care. I may try to exchange it, but it really isn't worrying me much right now... Perhaps if it gets any worse I will... I haven't tried the ltx/paint remover yet... I'm going to try some Goo Gone first (it's gentler) and if that doesn't work I'll give it a go. I'll definitely post any results I find. ![]() Thanks again.

Goo Gone does NOT work. I did not try the ltx/paint remover, but I assume that would not work as well.
Upon further investigation, the blemishes appear to be micro scratches on the surface of the iPhone. Bandrew was right. I think I'm going to purchase some Radtech Ice Creme Scratch Remover and try that out: http://www.radtech.us/products/Icecreme.aspx As always, I'll post the results.
