Default Developing a new iPhone accessory...

So, as it stands right now, I'm thoroughly disappointed with the speaker on my iPhone and as such, I've developed a way to improve the sound quality and volume.

With that being said... how many of you iPhone owners would splurge for somewhere in the $14.99-$19.99 price range on an accessory that would raise the volume of your iPhone speaker by somewhere around 4-6x, increase the speaker clarity, and add a little bit to the size when the accessory is on.

Thanks for your input... wanna make sure there's a market for this thing. My end goal is to develop it, get it streamlined, distribute a few "test models" to make sure it all works properly and with no issues, and then market it to an accessory company for a chunk of change plus royalties.

Thanks for your input in advance!

- Danny

EDIT #2! Forgot to mention, no extra battery drain!

P.S. Also, I'm putting the poll on there with questions concerning pricing. If you think $19.99 is a fair price for something like that, please check that option off. I understand by having an option for $14.99 everyone will check that one off, but I'm shooting for distribution to the general public, what do you think they would pay?

Edit: Multiple choices allowed for the vote, so if you have no interest but you think its something worth marketing, choose the price bracket that would seem fair. Thank you again!

I'd like to see this. If it is too bulky I doubt it will catch on though. You have to make something that doesn't get in the way, but if you can pull it off, you will be a millionaire.

Great idea, but I don't think many people may utilize this item. By no means necessary am I putting you down, just from a consumers perspective (myself) my phone is almost ALWAYS on vibrate. If I happen to be listening to music I would be using headphones. The only time I really use the speakers on my iPhone is when I am showing a video to someone. Even then, the volume is USUALLY good enough to hear.

Keep in mind, that a lot of regions are beginning to ban the use of hand held devices while driving. (Driver only.) I know they have already done that here in Ontario, and are planning to do so in other provinces in Canada. Not too sure about the US though. But recently because of the new by-law, the prices of hands free devices (gps speaker phone, bluetooth headsets etc.) have shot through the roof. I think that maybe louder speakers when using the speaker phone option on an iPhone would be a less expensive fix to the situation, and maybe many other consumers will think the same.

I hope this goes well! GL!

I think you should make 3 prototypes first. Use one yourself, see how you like it then lend it out to some friends. Get their opinion on it. Then that will hopefully give you an idea of the pros and cons. Remember that the size would be big. I don't think many people are going to walk around with jumbo speakers, plus we already have that. Some mini but sound enhancing speakers would do.

Hope all goes well!

Thanks for the feedback, there's actually no speaker... nothing to blow or burn out.

I would definitely be interested in a product like this if it worked for ipod touch. Just the other day I was wishing that my ipod could be louder and if I saw your product in a store I would have jumped on it.

Depending on the size and improvement I would pay 20$. Size is the biggest factor for me.

Also if it could be incorperated into a hard slider case that would be perfect for me and many others who use cases.

Simply put, it would just need a different size clip for the iPod Touch in order for it to work, but it will work with just about every mobile device (as long as the speaker is positioned on the top or the bottom of the unit and not the face of it) with a slight redesign of the clip element.

Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming! Once I have prototypes working, I want to get a couple users from OCN in on the testing... It will be a bit of a demo run to make sure you and your iPhone friends like it, want anything revamped.

Thanks again guys!

- Danny

P.S. If this thing takes off, OCN has inspired me to take modification into my own hands, so there will certainly be lots of freebie threads giving out this accessory, as well as some computer stuff. Just gotta wait for the check, y'know?
