The thing is, the laptop I have is about a 166Mhz piece of weight. It won't boot anymore because of a bad drive that I haven't been able to fix. The screen itself works, and I don't know if you can use the screen somehow as a standalone without the actual laptop mobo/processor and guts.

Even if I could get the laptop itself to work, it doesn't have enough hard drive space to hold a DVD, nor does it have USB 2.0 to use a flashdrive with a movie, or have a DVD drive.

I suppose I am better off finding an LCD screen on the internest.

You won't be able to use the screen without it's logic boards. The PCB's it comes with transfer an analog signal via VGA or digital signal via DVI. Those boards and chips take that data and transfer it onto the grid array of the LCD panel. On laptops, those logic boards are often built into the motherboard.

In short, you can use a Laptop screen, but you have to use the whole laptop for it to work.

I was thinking the same thing...

He's saying that 98% of the users here are 40 year old virgins.

I'd disagree though, honestly. There are a lot of... "playas"? on this forum.

Dude, great frickin idea. I'd just take the little lens module off the projector though and hook it up so it magnifies my regular monitor real well. Maybe I could figure out some awesome way to project tv onto my ceiling for when i'm lying in bed.

Pretty sweet project, but damn this is CHEAP. I'm talking about the bad cheap where you do ridiculous things to save $300! I thought I was a pretty damn cheapskate, but I don't think I would do this just because you would have that goofy looking thing sitting in the room while you watching movies. I think I would be annoyed by it, and the fact that it would remind me of school... which I don't like one bit. You can get a nice real projector for like $500 lol... maybe even less. Just my opinion . Nonetheless, still a pretty sweet idea!

If you are swayed by looks alone, I suppose. This adds a lot of flexibility in what you can do. The only negative I see is the time needed and the size of the unit.
