Default Motion blurr and 120HZ

I have a question, aren't 120hz monitors suppose to get rid of motion blurr? My dad has an XBR4 in his room but I can still notice some blurr during games, everything else plays fine and hd on it is unbelievable. I have a Westinghouse 47(tx) and it annoys me how it displays blur when I'm watching a basketball game. I've played css, other pc games, halo 3 and a couple of hd dvds/blu rays and have yet to see any blurr out of them. Is it just me or what, I though the new 120hz monitors were suppose to be better than 60, my westinghouse(60hz) is driving me nuts now. I'm wondering if I should return this westy and get a plasma, but burn-in still happens and is a factor. Anything I can do other than to scream at my monitor everytime Nash decides to run?

You're thinking of response time I think. Lower is better.

I have an Optiquest 17" LCD monitor (which is made by Viewsonic) with an 8ms response that gives me no ghosting that I can see. Look for 8ms response or under.

If you're talking about actual motion blur and not a fading image that kinda shows the last frame, there might not be anything you can do.
