Default DVI or VGA

Ok daft question I know.

Anyway, im thinking of getting a DVI cable however, is it really worth it

I mean i know VGA hasnt got the bandwidth to do 720p so is it worth getting a DVI cable to run things at 720?

ive found DVI to always be better. to kinda (read: not permenant) future proof i would get DVI because it supports much high. if you really wanted to huture proof HDMI would be best. but you can run that off a DVI port

I have 2 monitors hooked up to my laptop docking station. One via DVI and the other via VGA. The DVI monitor looks way better than the VGA one. The image is sharper and the colors are more accurate and crisp.

Definitely go with DVI if you want good quality. If you want cheap, go with DVI.

I have a couple DVI cables I'll give away for free, PM me. You'll just need to pay for shipping.

I have my Pc hooked to a 26" LCD TV with a HDMI cable, and it looks real nice. I play movies on my computer to my TV, works just like a DVD player, except it can play everything! I don't really see a reason why you wouldn't get an HDMI cable, you can get a 12 ft. one with shipping for like $15.

DVI is digital Video and VGA is Analog. And sure u will get a better picture through DVI as its better & faster than VGA. DVI has a bandwidth of [Single] 3.7 Gbit/s [Dual] 7.4 Gbit/s or more. DVI will be around for a long time so if you buy one now you will be able to use it for many years.

Who told you that?

720p = 1280x720 (or 1280x768)

VGA can do 2048x1536.
Single linked DVI can do 1600x1200.
Dual linked DVI can do 2560x1600.

Any of those support your resolution. DVI is slightly crisper.

Also, you can get a DVI cable off of Newegg.com for less than 15USD shipped. I'm not sure about the cost in the UK but it should be reasonable since the value of the dollar is so low right now.
