Once more I have a question and the only people I trust is you all =)

I have a Westinghouse 22 inch monitor that I have recently noticed is hot at the top to roughly 4inches down. It is cool to the touch below that. It is about a year old. I have not seen any pixels or anything. When I say Hot it is hot enough that I cant keep my hand on it for too long. I run it @ 1600 x 1050.

I have a roll top desk and it sits snug under the shelf. The vents in the monitor are roughly 3 inches from the shelf. It is also open on each side so it gets air that way as well. (Sorry just trying to give you all the picture). But it has been in this same desk the whole time I have owned it.

I have added a 120mm fan below the shelf so it's blowing into the monitor's vent area. Which has cooled it down a lot!

Basically is this normal? Or is it a sign it is going out? I bought it from BB and got the 3yr warranty. I have never noticed it being that hot before..

One more thing to add, is I have recently started playing AoC and run it on high so not sure if this maybe causing it to overheat, Although I have noticed it hot even when I am just surfing great sites like this one.

It's fine for the temperature to be hotter near the top since that's where the fluorescent bulb is, but it shouldn't be so hot that you can't touch it for long.
Make sure none of the ventilation holes aren't blocked and that the monitor isn't too close to walls or anything.
Other than that, if it's working fine, it should be ok

My 3 year old 17" Gateway does the same thing, it gets hot, but I don't think it would get hot enough to burn my hand or something like that. I wouldn't get too worried about it, since electronics do get some amount of heat when their on, right?

Also, if you haven't recently, take some compressed air to the monitor and blow off any dust that might be in the vent holes. Otherwise, I'm sure all is fine.
