Default HDMI monitor DVI GPU

if i want to use a HDMI monitor that has no DVI socket will using something like this:

solve my problem and allow me to use the graphics card and monitor together?

probably a stupid question like lol

i'll be using the hdmi cord that comes with the monitor to attatch that into the GPU so i'll need a HDMI to DVI connector to put into the GPU right?
