Default Buying new TV for my room tomorrow!

I am selling my 32" Samsung for $525 tonight (costs like $690 NEW and its the newer model of mine) Also I am giving him a stand. Anyways, I am selling because I want a 1080P bigger TV for my room. I am planning on a 40" Samsung LCD, but 42" is the max size I can get. I work at best buy and get a great discount. The Samsung is the cheapest 40" LCD TV I can get $987 except for the crappy brands (Dynex, Insignia, Westinghouse) Anyone got any better suggestions, I can get a 42" Toshiba Regza for $945 but the Samsung is better. So tell me what you guys think.

i've heard a lot of good things about the Westinghouse 1080p 37" for about $600-$700. I'm not sure about the 42", but it's only about $800 - $900 online.

What Samsung are you looking at? I'm assuming that at that price with discount, the A550? Where have you gotten that the Toshiba is not as good as the Samsung? (no one has helped me, so I'm curious since I'm in the market too).

At 42" are you considering plasma's as an option?

Well I could get a Panasonic Plasma for $1100 but I don't want to spend that much and that is our lowest price 1080P tv, and I have read so-so reviews about the plasma.

As for the Toshiba's not being as good as Samsung, well I am pretty knowledgeable and so are a couple Home Theater employee's in my store. All of them have said Samsung and Sony are the BEST LCD makers, but Samsung is the biggest LCD manufacturer and they make lots of Sony's parts. So I am thinking Samsung. Because for the price of the Sony I could get a 550 series Samsung then.

That's with a discount? Seems a bit high. Panasonic and Pioneer are 2 plasma choices where you can't go wrong. I have a Philips plasma and I've never experienced some of the problems people claim. Stay away from LG though, they have a burn in issue.

Well, ok, was asking to cite sources. No offense to BB employees but I don't frequently trust them. I would check out avsforum.com before buying. They all have pro's and con's. Not so sure about the Sony being better than the Toshiba or Samsung though, I've only been looking from a monitor perspective and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Are you doubling this as a monitor? But yeah, check http://avsforum.com/ I don't think the people here know much about TV's, cause I even got a list of people thinking they didn't make 32" 1080p. lol!
