Default Decisions, Decisions; New Monitor

Well I'm planning to crossfire by the end of summer, so I'm looking for a nice monitor. I checked out some of the threads and picked out these two: Samsung 2493HM and Samsung 2253BW.

Are these good choices? Are there better ones? I think I may go with a 24".

Also, these don't come with speakers, so does anyone have a suggestion for what speakers I should get?

Thanks!

yep, both good monitors. I'd go look at them in person to see how you like it. I like 24" monitors because you can have two windows open at the same time. For instance, you can have a browser and word document open at the same time. This saves you from having to alt tab as much when doing papers. The 22s will almost do it, but not quite. You could also look at the Acer monitors. They'd save you some money, but I'd look at them in person to see if you like them.

What's your budget for the monitor?
If you're only (or mostly) going to be gaming, check out the LG L227WTG as well. Best Buy should have all 3 so you can check them out in store. They're all TN panels, so the viewing angles are mediocre, but are good for gaming.
As for speakers, Logitech has the most popular stuff right now...but if you want something a little better than off the shelf computer speakers, try the Polk R50 or 6.5" Insignia bookshelf speakers and a T-Amp.

Its the resolution that is allowing you to have all that realestate. 1920x1080 is a lot of room. There are however 22" monitors that have 1080p resolutions.

The 22 and 24" Sammy monitors are tough to beat. Going to be getting a 30" myself soon. =P

I don't have a budget . I've been working since February, and I plan to work until the end of summer.

No budget? Doublesight DS-263N or it's slightly more refined older brother the NEC LCD2690WUXi . Both have (the same) IPS panel, the NEC has slightly better horizontal viewing angles and both have low image delay. The Doublesight is about half the price of the NEC though :P

If you want a relatively inexpensive but decent set of 5.1 computer speakers, the Logitech Z5500s have gone on sale twice in the past month at Dell. For a 2 speaker system, I'd go with one of the bookshelf speakers I linked and a T-Amp. I can't recommend ever using speakers that came with the monitor. Usually even the cheapest powered computer speakers will sound better.
