Default 52 inch HDTV

I have been noticing that HDTV prices have been coming down. Im shopping around for a 52 inch HDTV. Whats the best cost to quality HDTV would anyone suggest getting. I have seen some HD 1080p LCDs for around $1500.

What type are you looking for? IE... DLP, LCD, or Plasma?

SAMSUNG and Sony are definitely at the top as far as brands go. My step-dad got a Sony Bravia 52" 6 months ago and it was a whopping $3,500. I see now they are going for around $2,700-$3,000.

If you do see some for substantially cheaper, take the brands into heavy consideration, and read reviews!

Samsung LN-T5265F

I haven't really looked, but as a rule, Samsung and Sony have the best LCDs. I've heard that some Sony LCDs approach Plasma black levels. No idea if that's true.

Samsung are doing some great 1080p tv's right now and for a very good price. Check out the LE46F86BD and its larger brother the LE52...very good screens with excellent contrast and more than enough sockets, I think 3 x HDMI. Nots sure of the US price but in the UK the 46" retails for 1400 quid so I guess in the US it could cost around 15-1800 dollars

I just picked up the latest & greatest 46" Sony Bravia XBR4...WOW is all I have to say and it puts all other tv's to shame, worth spending the extra money IMO

couple brands you should know when shopping

my list of good TV's (in no particular order)
Samsung
LG
Pioneer - Elite series
Sony - Bravia series
Toshiba - regza series
Sharp - Aquos series

now most people get samsung or LG because they have a good rep for being the best quality for the buck.

people with alot of money generally get the pioneer elite series, because they can afford the high end stuff.

there is a rumor/theory out there that sharp aquos produces one of the greatest pictures, but that is also going to cost some $$$. from what i saw, the picture is outstanding! but i don't know if it is the best.

I have been to the stores so I have been able to compare visual quality of most of the displays mentioned. I really just wanted to hear what others have to say. As far as my comparison I was really looking for price vs quality(wont blow up in a month you know).

Im trying to stay away from comparing things like this since everyone will have their own preferences as do I.

I'd have to say Samsung for price/quailty

I owned a 32inch Samsung LCD and a Samsung monitor, both producing great pictures for over a year and had no problems at all
