Exclamation Help fixing Tv/monitor maybe

So my parent's Tv(Sony LCD Model No. KLV-S19A10) just died today...if i could some how fix it...i could probobly have it as a computer monitor-how good would it be?

so here are the symptoms... worked everyday for the last three years(we bought it in April 2005) then this morning it worked fine. Came home today around 8, and tried to turn it on. Sound came on, but no picture(powerlight turned on). tried turning it on and off a few times, over half the times, nothing would turn on or light up. But when it did turn on i could sometimes hear sound, but i couldn't turn the TV off, and had to unplug it.

fire away with the questions, any recommendations would be great!

Well, sometimes monitors just die and there's nothing you can do about it.

There is a chance that a short developed somewhere that is causing this problem.

If you have time to kill, you can take the monitor apart and start looking for anything obvious that might be causing this.

To me it sounds like a dead/dieing circuit board somewhere over a bad screen or something...

With the symptoms that you have talked about, it does sound more like a short somewhere over anything else... To me at least...
