Ok I have the samsung 40a650 and I have a yellow line(yellow on grey backgrounds, like xbox dashboard) going from the top to the bottom of the screen (19.5 inches long). Its a 40 inch tv and it looks like the line is 2 pixels wide(magnifying glass). I don't see the line on black and yellow back ground but it is noticeable on Grey backgrounds and on blue back grounds it stands out like a sore thumb. It's almost black on a blue background. I just noticed it about a week ago. I think I saw it before but never really paid attention to it.
I happened to purchase the service plan from Bestbuy for 160 and since it's a 40 inch, I get in home service. Today bby is sending some guys to take a look at it. Its been there for over a week. So I was wondering what are the chances of that being dead pixels. Hopefully it's dead pixels because then I'm allowed to just go to the store and switch it out for a new one.

A dead pixel is just that; one random pixel stuck on a colour. Your problem sounds like there is a much bigger fault in your TV. I hope they fix you up

Dead Pixels are generally black and stay that way. A stuck pixel is a pixel that is stuck on one colour..generally RED I find.

So what could it be? What could've caused it? For a $2300 tv good thing the service plan only costed $160 for four years.
Service repair Update: Being that I work for Best Buy(computers), you would assume that I wouldn't bad mouth my company. But I've been screwed over. Since it's a 40 inch tv, I was suppose to receive a service call confirming my appointment between 7-9am. I did not receive a call and decided to call them up at 11:30 to find out that I was moved to tomorrow at 1 in the afternoon. Which I can't do because I have to go to work at Best Buy from 12-8. So that means my parents have to watch this guy. But I don't trust people in my room with all my games(40 360/wii/PC) and computer parts laying around unless I'm there. Well employees get treated like crap at the store so I guess its not surprising the company its self wouldn't.
