Its priced 190€ here tho. but i'll keep this one in mind.
Basically when you view a webpage with alot of white, the backlight get's brighter, and when the screen is filled with mostly black pixels it get's darker. Some people swear by it, others do not. It's actually allright but it bugs me that my monitor keeps getting darker, then lighter. Then darker and so on...

It's purpose is to make whites as bright as possible, but only when most of the screen is white. Although it can produce good blacks by turning the backlight down (for example playing a space-based game) but this makes whites not as bright because the brightness is adjusted for the dark areas.

Hope this explains it, i'm not very good at it

Exactly. A 22" with 1680x1050 will be a great improvement.

I think he mistook the native res of the original poster's monitor to be 1600x1200 which indeed contains more pixels than a monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050.

Thanks for explaining about static & dynamic contrast!
But, is there actually a way to see if the monitor is static or not? i mean on a website wich sells them.

Is there any sort of specification that shows this?

Yeah, now i'm capped at playing on a 1280x1024 resolution. so i'm planing to buy a monitor that supports 1600x1200 or 1680x1050.

Generally you won't find many LCD monitors with static contrast above 3000:1. That said, there are no laws anywhere that say you have to display what type of contrast ratio a monitor. For Acer, if the ratio has (ACM) at the end of it, that's the dynamic contrast.

To bad. Anyway I don't think the dynamic would be that bothersome to me.

I might not get the same visual quality i would with a static ratio screen but thats not really a priority.

But that Acer 223HQ sure does look nice for its price. and it appears to be static.

Thx so far

It probably does, but the shipping costs would also make the price the same.
I think its over 20€ when it has to ship through one or more countries.

And even so its gonna be a trouble with warranty since i'd have to ship it all the way back incase it would come with to many death pixels.

Ha, didn't see that.
Well it dousn't really matter that much to me, its the price & resolution that matter to me right now.
