Thank you, I am very very impressed with it and find it hard to see any possible upgrade apart from a £450 HP H-IPS panal lol. Which I cannot afford. I could never go back to a Samsung TN after this.

I know far too many people who don't care about the picture quality their monitor gives off and are more than happy to cough up for a cheapo TN panel.
Then I show them my monitors. The 24" is an S-PVA and the 20" is an S-IPS that Dell don't make anymore, and the picture quality of the S-IPS, even with its lower resolution and darker backlighting dumps all over the 24"er.
In all fairness to Dell, they have dumped some cracking monitors onto the market in the past.

Oh yes, well even a S-PVA is a great step from TN, what I have is probably in between your 24 and 20 due to it being E-IPS, which is basically an economy version. It gets a bit irritating when many people advise just ANY samsung monitor in what monitor threads, samsung make good monitors but not all of their models are amazing and they are no always the best. I personally think for gaming certain LG monitors are no brainers.

Sounds good, make sure its in good nick or send it back otherwise. No dead pixels and There should be either none or very very minimal backlight bleed.

Definitely Planned to.

Also, I ordered it for $279 and they dropped the price a few days later to $219, I called Dell and got a $75 coupon good for anything.

So, I'm thinking about trying to get another 2209WA for $219 - $75 Coupon which should put it around $144

hey!new user here!

i bought the samsung 220hd , but i'm discontent with the heavy backlight bleeding which is very disturbing, i even changed the unit but the new one is almost as bad as the las one. Checked around some mates anbd they have the bleeding too.. so i guess no 220hd for me.

heres some videos i recorded that show easily the problem

the first one
the second one, at half in the video y test a game.

my question is,m how does the 2209wa behaves in dark scenes? what do you think, will it be able to satisfy my needs? all i care is watching movies and playing games, and the bleeding definetly ruins it, both of them with tons of dark scenes, so the bleeding ruins it.

I went from T220's to the Dell 2209WA. There is almost 0 backlight bleed. and where there is which is very hard to see in the dark. Its almost as if its panel fault rather than the nature of the panel. I feared backlight bleed as I use the computer at night and whenever a dark scenes in a movie or game took place, backlight bleed was too distracting. But when I tried out this monitor in the dark for the first time I was in Awe.

This monitor is like day and night compared to the T220HD IMO. Samsung lost their ways after the 226Bw to be honest,

Got three of these in our house - fantastic monitors. Highly recommended.

I hope Dell makes more eIPS panels.
