Default Monitor going out?

Ok, lately when I've turned my display off for awhile (3 hours +) then turn it back on it blinks a few times before it finally stays on displaying the picture. Once it has gotten a steady signal after the first few blinks it stays on and works fine for however long i leave it on.... whether that be 12 hours or even days. Does this mean my monitor is going bad? When it blinks the power button that is usually green while its on turns off too. I have a Viewsonic VX923 19" monitor. I thought this was one of the top of the line gaming monitors (especially when it came out) because it boasted a 3 ms refresh rate. Seems like 4 years for a top of the line gaming monitor is kind of a short lifespan. Keep in mind this was purchased 4 years ago when 3 ms was the absolute lowest refresh rate you could get with an LCD. Any chance this is my video card going and not my monitor? My monitor probably averaged being on about 10 hours a day during those 4 years.
