well for the last while my x241w has been "flashing" the acer logo on boot up and it would take longer and longer for the flashing to stabalize before the monitor would "work".

Its now finally died.

Went to fixmyacer.com and it turns out its still underwarranty.

Anybody ever send anything to fixmyacer.com (the location they gave me to ship it to is in Texas.. ouch $$$)?

I'm wondering how long this is going to take :

with my old Sammy I opened the RMA and they paid the shipping both ways.. 1.5 all together.

The depot is in Temple, only afew hours from me. When I worked at CC, I would call them directly for parts I could replace myself when something was still under warranty, as it was faster and their techs are all obviously american. They would even do core exchanges provided we put a deposit down, which we got back promptly upon return of the old part. They did a great job with everything I ever dealt with them on, even actually wrote down the case numbers each time i had to call back and forth afew times and didn't have to transfer me.

This monitor was purchased at a Best Buy but I don't have the receipt any longer. Could I take it back to Best Buy and have them handle it or am I better to send it off to Texas instead?

If they can find your receipt, yes. If not, Acer has already stated they can handle it for you. MOST things sold there only carry a 1-year warranty, so if they try and say it's outta warranty just remind them the higher-quality monitor brands all carry 3-year, as does Acer because they're made from Samsung parts and backed as such.
