Hey guys has anyone dealt with samsung and with monitor RMAs?
Here is an interesting story. Back in 2006 I bought a SyncMaster 931c monitor. Today it started acting up. The screen is black. I can change the resolution and the picture comes for a second and goes away. I can turn off the power and turn it on and the picture comes for second and then goes black. it does not say no signal. I have checked the conenctions so I'm pretty sure is just the monitor acting up. I tried my other monitor on both ports on my video card and it works fine and this monitor does the same thing on both ports on the video card. Here is my question. I do have the receipt and this monitor appears to have 3 years of warranty but I never registered it with samsung and I don't know if I needed to register it. Otherwise it should have 1 month left of warranty. So does anyone know if you must register your products with Samsung to be elegible for the 3 year warranty? Also I doubt they still make this model and I paid $300 for it 3 years ago. So Will I get just any cheap monitor in return? like a 19-20" with no so great specs? I mean this monitor does have pretty sweet specs. Even 2ms response time. Here is the interesting thing. I also paid $39 for extra store warranty from where I bought it from. If I remember correctly the guy said they would replace it even for 1 dead pixel. He also said I would not have to deal with RMA and that they would replace it for another one in the store. I don't know how this policy may have changed though. Mmmm I'll call them tomorrow but I'm not sure if they will just offer me any cheap 19" monitor as well. I would not mind a 22" wide screen with descent specs. But since my monitor is under warranty I would hope to get it for free. I hope I can get something descent. Any suggestions as to what to accept if they offer me something in the range of 19-22"? Or will Samsung just tell me to drop it off somewhere to try to repair it? I hate this type of warranties if it's like this. I will see what the store says.

You will probably get back a good monitor.
Like a ToC 22" My recent RMA experience with Samsung was a HDD, I sent in an older F1 500GB and got back a F3 500GB. Which was an upgrade. No registration needed, not sure if its like that for Monitors. But HDDs have been easy and smooth.

Well Samsung said they have lots of 19" and I can get one with similar specs. I called the place where I bought it and the same thing. 19" monitors are still available everywhere. So I took it back where I bought it and got a 4:3 in Wide LG Monitor.
The W1942TQ-BF. Wow it looks so freaking sweet. It actually makes my CRT look way too blury. The picture seems much better than the one I had and well it does 1440x900. I tried videos and they look sweet. With my other monitor videos look better on the CRT. So far so good. It has nice crispy picture for sure.
