Default Backlight EXTREMELY dim on LP2207 Gateway Monitor

I recently acquired a monitor from my mother who said that it no longer worked due to water damage (Something about the ceiling leaking). So I took it to see what I could do. The problem wasn't something simple as I had hoped so I am turning to the folks here.

The monitor is a Gateway LP2207 (FPD2275W if that's the number you're looking for) 22"

The problem is that when I turn it on, the screen appears for about 1 second then goes so dim that I hadn't noticed it until recently. I tried setting up the brightness but I can't see the menus well enough to do so.

I googled around and found something about the Backlight being out or the Power Supply.

I would appreciate some input and/or sites I can go to, to replace any broken parts I may have. As well as a few skills I might need to do so.

well like you stated - it could be the back light, or the power supply or both. only real way to check is trial and error. I'd put my money on the back light first though.

IF you do fix it - depending on how much, i'd sell on craigs cause with water damage you dont wanna chance it going out on you again. and just remember new 22" are as low as 200 sometimes so watch repair costs.
