Default Monitor dying?

Hey guys,

Got a serious issue here...my monitor keeps "shutting down" after 10 seconds of misuse...lol.

I went to watch movie for couple hours came back and monitor turned itself off, but PC was running. Tried everything and no display.

Just turned on PC and went to take a wizz, came back and saw desktop for a split second before monitor turned off.

Restarted again and began clicking mouse the second I got on. Scared to stop in case I lost monitor again haha.

What could be wrong?

Well the first question is what kind of monitor is it and how long have you had it?

19" ASUS VW192T+

Have had it since March.

When I saw "shuts down", I mean the screen goes blank and the blue button turns orange. I'm about 99% sure it isn't the GPU, but the monitor.

have you turned power saver off? some monitors dont like powersaver esspecially when it has both the monitors own power saver and then the os power saver, they clash and fight and then you end with a dead screen

Everything is set to OFF. So, it can't be that. I rolled back my drivers to the 180's and now I'm not experiencing any issues.

I had this same issue with a samsung monitor. The problem ended up being the backlight inverter was going iffy and it went to standby to "prevent further damage"
