Hello everyone, I am upgrading my video card to an ati 5870 and i would like to also upgrade my monitor. My friend currently has a 32" HDTV he isn't using so i could get it for free , or i could buy a 24-26" LCD monitor and use that instead. What would be a better solution in terms of quality of picture etc. (money doesn't really matter)?

Well, I never liked using TV's for computing because of how blurry they are compared to PC monitors, but if you can get it for free, go for it. An extra 32" TV is always good.

what kind of resolutions does the HDTV output? I agree with the Conley that TV arent that great as a computer monitor. However since you can get it for free, then it would be an improvement for you.

It also depends on how far away you will be sitting. If you're at a regular desk, go for a computer monitor rather than an HDTV since the HDTV will likely look fuzzy up close.
If you're 5-6 feet away, then the HDTV should work just fine.
