You do realize that the "Dynamic Contrast ratios" are all marketing hype?

Have you ever owned a high-end CRT?

I have owned a high end CRT, LCD, and OLED. While there is debatable difference in the image quality IMO, the LCD's and OLED's are much easier on the eyes. If you plan on spending a lot of time in front of a screen get one of those.

2) As for your "radiation" theories, YES, all monitors, whether they be crt, lcd, plasma, oled emit electromagnetic radiation. It's called light. You know, that stuff your eyes see. 3) Gauss is a measure of magnetism, not electromagnetism. Magnetism is safe as far as the human body is concerned (unless you believe it gives you cancer, but lets face it, what doesn't these days?). Want proof? MRI. </troll feed> OP: Nobody really knows how OLED performs. Sony has an 11" prototype model for sale, but that'll cost you somewhere in the region of $15,000, and 11" really isn't enough for a proper comparison. If you want high black levels on a screen that is useful, buy plasma. If you want a computer monitor that doesn't take up half the desk on its own, buy an IPS LCD.

Also, I find it hard to believe most anything can better a good CRT's blacks - it's the equivalent of it being off. There is no light. ![]() ...and if we must play the resolution card, there are plenty of CRT's that will run way past 1920x1080 with a pixel pitch and refresh rate unheard of in any panel displays.

i currently own a VERY high end crt and as well as OLED, oled beats it hands down from any point! only thing crt's have left are refresh rates, but thats pretty much beaten to with todays 120hz screens

With the resolution/size thing, you are right about resolution, but not about size. Why bother with a really high resolution if you can't source a CRT bigger than 22"? If you're after colour reproduction for photoshop etc, go IPS LCD. If you're after colour reproduction for theatre, size beats resolution almost all the time. I know I'd rather have a good 50" 1920x1080 Plasma than a 21" CRT. Edit: Where are people in this thread getting OLED's from? Samsung only has prototypes atm, and Sony has only just started selling 11" models.
