Default Best way to get from HDMI to VGA/RCA or Component to VGA/BNC

How would one get from HDMI to VGA most efficiently without losing too much quality? Yes, I understand that there would need to be a separate audio cable. I was thinking that an HDMI to DVI, which is still digital, attached to a VGA adapter would work, but I don't know. HP has an HDMI to VGA adapter for their Voodoo laptop, but I don't know if it works for all devices or is somehow specific to their devices.

Otherwise, I would also like to know of a way to get from composite or component to VGA or BNC. I would think converting to BNC would be more reliable, but I have not seen any cables that do this job.

HDFury is too expensive.

HDMI is digital, component/vga is analog. you'll need to spend at least $100+ for a conversion module.

Yup, you need an active converter.

So no one thinks the HP adapter would work?
