Default monitor water damage

Long story short, a large amount of water spilled down the front of one of my LCD monitors. It's fully functional, but has a strange two tone water patch in the lower right corner of the screen. The outer portion is dimmer than the surrounding area, while the inner is brighter. I've disassembled the monitor down to the LCD assembly. Is it possible further disassemble the lamp from the LCD, or is that unlikely without cracking something? I can't figure out where the water wicked up into, but I assume it's between those two parts. Any suggestions?

Be careful not to get it too hot. Might melt something.

If the water is trapped inside, if all else fails, you could maybe suck it out with an extremely fine gauge syringe...but I think I would need a photo to really understand what you mean.
