I know you'd say "but lowering resolution takes it away from its optimal quality", and I'm familiar with that argument. Thing is, I've worked with many different TN-equipped monitors at various native resolutions and they all have similar levels of quality at similar resolutions. I have NOT, however, worked with a monitor with an IPS panel, which is supposed to be even better than PVA (I can't imagine this as this panel is near perfection as it is... but I do believe it).
Hmm, that is interesting, i think im going to look in to that next time ill be buying a monitor. Thanx

Monitors like those are cost-effective gaming solutions (those "true HD 1080P" monitors are cheap to produce as all of the ones I've seen use generic TN panels; thankfully the low production cost is passed on), but like I said, they all tend to overlap in image quality. You REALLY have to put down more Benjamins for a high-quality monitor.

I have that monitor and the picture quality is beautiful
I have yet to see a better looking 1080p monitor, and I shop at the tigerdirect outlet store (now compusa) and I take a good look at all the monitors there every day. Honestly it is high quality and its cheap acer always has good deals. If you think the picture quality will be bad, trust me it wont. I have a 1080p 40" tv and it looks just as good on this as it does there.

Oh I'm not saying it's bad at all, there are definitely good TN-equipped monitors out there. But trust me when I do say that when you put one of those 1080P monitors, calibrated for best quality, next to a PVA/MVA or IPS monitor, also calibrated for best quality, you WILL notice the difference. I honestly think every extra penny for a better panel is worth it. But also be assured that what you see in an outlet store is NOT the same as what you'll see at home. They're calibrated in stores to look great in their flood of industrial flourescent lighting, but when you bring it home you'll always wonder why it looks so different (much more common with TVs, though). It's simply the calibration, and is the FIRST thing you should mess with when you plug it in.
