Hi, I am on the verge of buying a Samsung SM2443BW online.
However, I can't fully decide where to buy it from due to worries of possible dead pixels and issues getting problems resolved. Firstly, I am in the UK. So that instantly means I will probably get shafted over dead pixels. I have done a lot of research and browsing and it is safe to say there is not near enough info on the specifics of this. I read somewhere that, at some point in time, Samsung would replace the monitor if it had even the slightest issue, but the person posting this (wherever I read it a few days ago) also stated that they were only sure that was the case in Australia (maby not anymore?). Now, I highly doubt such a gesture would occur in Europe. I have a few options of where to buy it now: microdirect.co.uk seem OK, but they offer no screen checking service and I hear their customer services are rubbish; so my solution under the circumstances of buying from them and getting dead pixels would be to return it under the distance selling act, and fork out for shipping plus wait longer to actually have a good monitor. OCUK recently sold out, since I got the funds to purchase the monitor, and they were my primary choice because it seems that monitors from them are just about never defective in even the slightest way (I have known of about 12 monitors bought from them by people I know that all were fine, dispite microdirect stating that dead pixels are quite common). I could buy from amazon, for the same price as microdirect. Or, I could buy from cconline.com and pay £20 more to have the monitor checked first. Would you opt for the monitor checking option? Otherwise I may opt for amazon because microdirect allow something stupid like 17 dead pixels. Also, I couldn't find any info on Samsung's dead pixel policy newer than 2004 (and apparently that only applied in certain territories). If said dead/stuck pixels occur more noticable can I argue the screen would need replacing? And how would I be sure they would agree. I really don't want any white/dead/stuck pixels, I have been up all night browsing and fretting over this (sorry for the fail typing and ranting). What are your opinions? edit: found this, promising? Go for the cheapest site? edit: that page is from 2006, but it is still live on their site

I've never got an LCD that has any dead/stuck pixels. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Samsung's warranty and service are superb, I'd go with them and not worry

Hey bud, I just received and setup my very own 2443BW today and I can tell you, it is quite wonderful! So far, all is great and I have not noticed any dead pixels on my screen!
As for your worries, I shared the same ones a bit earlier back (about two weeks ago I was researching monitors), but I resolved them with one quick call to Samsung. I asked the them about how many dead pixels where covered by the warranty, and after a little amount of thought and muttering from the Customer service Representative (probably some new guy), he let me know that Samsung covers any dead pixels up to a maximum of 10. So, as long as you don't get any more then 10 dead pixels on your monitor when you buy it, then you should be fine. I actually found it kind of weird that their was a MAX on the amount of dead pixels one can have. Maybe they replace it if you have any more than that... no clue. You should actually call them and ask them about it. Hope this helps!

Samsung has a ZERO dead pixel policy. Also they have either 3 or 5 year limited replacement warranty. Everyone in my family owns Samsung monitors. My dad and I own 22" samsungs, my bro owns a 19", by three best friends own samsungs.
If you buy one from retail, they WILL replace it, if it has dead pixels.
