Default Asus P4P800 SE volt mod question

Hello I just got back from RadioShack after buying a 100K ohm Potentiometer. I haven't seen one like this so I need to know if it will work and how to test the level of resistance. Here is the exact one that I bought from RS http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...tId=2062302&cp. I need to know which post/legs to solder I already to know the MB volt mod spots but do not know which legs to use.

Yeah I did but theu were only 1k and 10k ohms they had no 50k at all 1 10 &100 only. As far as thing goues it is a trimmer just a horizontal style trimmer it was seriously the closest thing my RS carried. I can go beack and just buy a resistor I guess but I know that trimmers are better as you can adjust them. I figured out how to get a reading from it with my MM but I am still unsure of which leg to solder to. I mean that I don't know where the positive and ground goes.

Polarity shouldn't matter.

Also is silicone ok to use on electrical devices such as a MB. I found some and want to use it to hold my wires in place on the MB also to hold the trimmer in place on the MB. I would ude hotglue but I don't have any or a glue gun just silicone.

Well in my opinion you should be ok. The hot glue guns use a type of thermo melting silicone plastic anyway. But I would get a general consensus first

Just be careful as I would imagine that silicone sealant (which im presuming you are using) will not set as quickly as a hot glue gun does

Good luck with it
