Default need help with pencil mods on p5w dh

I have seen vr zones web site on the volt mods for this motherboard and i know what to do to preform these mods (use a pencil and draw across or around the resistior) but i cant for the life of me get the graphite from the pencil to conduct across the resistor im trying to lower the resistance on and im not sure what im doing wrong. Mainly trying to boost my vmch to get a little more oc out of this cpu sice 1.65v is the max on this version. linky for those who dont know of it or as a reference http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=3876&s=1

Ya ive used a #2 pencil, mechanical pencil, and have tryed practing on a dead mobo from work and no sucess there either and it seams that the problem i am having is makeing contact between the edges of the resistor. but cant confirm that since i cant get up close enought (2-5x magnification dont have) And i do have a digital multi meter and have done before and after measurements with no changes.

Hmm. I must admit, I had to grind a bit to get the mch vmod to start raising voltage, but when I tested the vmch by turning the psu on and off with the case on my workbench, I set the vmch to 1.75.

To my suprise I tested the vmch about an hour later while running and it had increased to over 1.85 with temps soaring and I had to rub it off and try again. I got it right the next time

I normally trace several times blow off and repeat with the final time leaving the lead on. I then put a small piece of clear tape over the trace to keep the led in place...works sometime and sometimes i need to remove the tape and try again. I have never had a problem with temps that I am aware of because the temp readout for the P5W deluxe does not read the northbridge (vMCH) it reads the southbridge. All of that said I do use after market cooling and would suggest at a min that you pull off the metal plate and blow a small fan at the heat sink. Like Mr Crowley said it would behoove you to take a voltage reading and insure you voltage stays below 2.0 or so.

I was able to raise my FSB to a modest 435 with the pencil mod...good luck.
