"P5K vanilla" is just a term for the P5K. The vanilla comes into it as a descriptive of the board IE: no frills plain board, no wifi, no voltage damping, 4 phase power instead of 8...

Does this mod work for the P5K-E or is there another guide id need to go by for the p5k-e

The mod works for all of the P5K series mobo's ...the layout is slightly different on the P5K/C/E but the circuitry is the same. You can either pencil the resistor or solder to the IC. I found the mods on vrzone.

Just remember to measure and record the original value of the resistor, when you measure across it. This helps to ensure, if you have to remove an 'un-successful' you can restore the circuitry to its original condition.

buy a cheap MM at radio shack... ~25$ ...otherwise, you have a lot re-starting to do.
