Default Evga 680i a1 vdroop mod question

I was looking at this picture for the vdroop mod on my motherboard.

Evga 680i a1 vdroop mod question-vdroop-mod.jpg

I saw other places where they had the red, and the blue shaded, that you could use either one. I added the blue to this one to show. Does it matter? I was just going to do the red one, but is the blue one the same?

To actually mod it, do you just take a sharpened pencil and pass over it a number of times? Do I follow the white lines? How many passes do I need to do if I have a vdroop of .06?

Also, I have a multimeter, could I use that to help me in any way?

UPDATE: I did the vdroop mod, but I have a problem. My settings are at stock, my vcore at 1.2625. No matter how much I shade it won't go up to 1.26. Another problem, sometimes the BIOS resets itself! Help!

REP TO ANYBODY THAT HELPS!

Also, it WOULD benefit to mod this right?

See my thread here. I only shaded the red marked resistor and it works great for me. The pencil mod is very easy to do and only takes 2 maybe 3 passes with the tip of the pencil!

You will be happy with it! FYI, I have noticed with 3 passes that the vcore goes up .02v - .03v when under load. If it also happens to you, and is unacceptable, just wipe it off and do 1 less pass with the pencil.

The benefit to the mod is that when the CPU is under load, the vcore wont drop. That is important when you are trying to get the max OC with the lowest possible vcore. The voltage is also closer to the bios settings when in windows. No more setting the vcore to 1.35v in bios and having it at 1.32v in windows! I think now when I set the vcore to 1.35 in bios, it shows 1.34v in windows.

Good Luck!

Ok, so do you go from the red to the red, across the top? I'll try 3 passes first and see how it works. You basically turn the comp off and unplug it, then shade and power back on?

Also, as a side question, how do you check what version bios you have? (like Pxx)

Yes, from red to red is the correct method for the penciling in. You can check your BIOS version in the Mainboard tab of CPU-Z.

Should I stick with the Pheonix Bios or update to the latest EVGA one?
