DD raises a good point there. Hopefully your mod or a variation thereof has already been done successfully. That will make things much easier to say the least. When and if you do find the mod your looking for I would suggest looking for another one or 2 even if you can and double check them against each other and your board sometimes the motherboard manufacturer will change components with a new revision so a mod that works for the one you found may not work for yours.

OK, I have the necessary software to mod the bios, now what?
I want to mod it in order to allow more voltage to the dimms.

Where did you get the software ?

I would think the source of the software would be your best resource for learning to use it.

You really need to post your system hardware specs in your sig, per the ToS.

How do you know this software applies to your board ?

The one I used would only work in DOS It was a huge hassle to learn how to get the system to boot to DOS. I eventually got a junk 4 Gbyte HD that I dedicated for DOS-only, as most of the BIOS customization software was too large to work from a floppy disk. That plus the floppy drive and disks kept failing, as they were ancient pieces of crap.

Do you know how to use DOS ?

Also, custom BIOS's are not "infinately" customizable. It's possible you can gain some higher voltages, but it's also possible you can't change them at all.

Default i know what the problem is!

My memory was tested for stability @ 2.0v @ 667Mhz. I assume it is not stable @ 1.95v @ 667Mhz. With my current setup I can either buy memory stable @ 1.8v or mod the board to run 2.0v on the dimm slots. The bios has no higher voltage mods available through hacking and im getting kinda stuck on the hardware side? Any help would be nice.

Well a while back there you were going to try to mod your BIOS and I asked a bunch of questions which are still unanswered.

Default response to your questions

Where did you get the software ?

After much googling I happened upon a chinese website dedicated to editing American Megatrends bioses and downloaded the software. I did not make a favorite of the site and was unable to find it again. Alas, even if I did it was not translatable by babelfish when I was on the site.

How do you know this software applies to your board ?

The software is a motherboard makers way of editing the bios without having American Megatrends rewrite a whole new one.

Do you know how to use DOS ?

I am fluent, albiet a bit rusty, in the use of dos and its commands.

It is in my belief that this BIOS will not be able to be altered to increase the voltage to the ram. The ram I currently have is tested stable only @ 2.0v and the board is only capable of 1.95v. Therefore, I am considering the purchase of some G.Skill ram that is tested to work @ 1.8v, Specifically, F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ @ newegg.com for $66 with free shipping.

I would recommend redoubling your efforts to find that site as you are excatly positioned as I was before I modded my BIOS. At least get to the point where you can crack open the hidden BIOS options (if any) and actually see if increased voltages are possible.

I wouldn't buy new RAM for your M/B, I go the other way 'round and replace the M/B. Get a solid DFI board with a butt-load of options to make sure this situation doesn't repeat.
