just checked, the board has a "Loadline Calibration" mode which essentially is asus's try into fixing the vdroop problem via bios. did it work? well u can see for your selves:

Idle

Load (4s!)

I will be trying this mod i believe after these results, as its obvious loadline crapination doesnt work. thanks for the idea guys, hopefully soon i can find time to try it out on my board.

Priority 1 or 9 doesn't matter if you aren't using the PC. If you have it on 1 and you're using the computer, it'll let you use the CPU just like folding does. If you set it to 9 it'll use your CPU no matter what... but if it's just idling it'll use the CPU with 1 priority anyways.

I guess I should be happy with the fact that the Vcore doesn't budge from 1.344 while loading. The pencil mod indeed works.

Default Pencil mod!

Just thought I'd chip in..

I have also applied the pencil mod on my P5K Vanilla board.. I was a little apprehensive at first (scribbling on a mainboard with a 2B pencil??), but after extensive forum reading I gave in.

It works a treat and seems to have completely eliminated Vdroop - Speedfan graphs absolutely no change in Vcore from Idle to Load, whereas before the pencil mod it would drop by something ridiculous like 0.08V

I just dropped a Q6600 G0 in my system and I seem to be running stable at 3.4GHz with 1.38 Vcore (378x9), with a Zalman 9500 cooler.

Temps peak at 70 (Tjunction) when running OCCT, but mostly in the low 60s

So yeah I don't see any problems with a pencil mod, best part is you can just wipe it off if you change your mind!

I must say, this mod works wonderfully. My idle actually increased and the load droop was reduced from 32 mV to 0. I believe my BIOS voltage is 1.4875.

Pre:

Idle - 1.472
Load - 1.440

Post:

Idle - 1.480
Load - 1.480

Pre Vdroop Mod:

Chock me up as another believer of this mod. This would have to be my first Pencil mod and I must say I am impressed. I was dropping .02v from idle to load with a 3.4ghz Q6600 G0 @ 1.40 (bios) 1.38-1.36 in windows. Now Its 1.38 HWmonitor either way. What I find kinda funny now is CPUZ is reporting 1.376 Idle and 1.384 Load Consistantly. Kinda odd but cool at the same time. Instead of dropping under load where its needed, it increases a tad. Not bad and all under 61C full load with a Zalman 9700
