To overclock to 3.6 in BIOS set vcore to 1.18750(in windows CPU-Z will show 1.15v), NB to 1.34
set PCI-E to 100 and memory timings manualy(I set mine to 4-4-4-12 but It depends what DDR2 sticks You have). Then You set FSB(QDR) to 1600(400 x 9) which gives us 3.6GHz

If You want to OC to 3.4GHZ
1)
set vcore to E8400 default 1.11250 in bios(in Win CPU-Z will show 1.07), NB to 1.3 HT to 1.4.Set FSB to 1512 , DDR2 to 756.
OR
2)
set vcore to E8400 default 1.11250 in bios(in Win CPU-Z will show 1.07), NB to 1.34 decrease CPU ratio to 8.5 and set FSB to 1600 (400 x 8.5 = 3.4) and set DDR2 to 800...
Temperatures are very nice because 1.11250 at vcore is CPU stock...
So I guess my main question first is, what bios version are you using for your Asus P5N-D? My board came with 304, and I updated to the 502, and I thought it was unstable. My cpu was going crazy, jumping up and down idling at 10-60% with no applications opened! Also I heard this strange squealing sound coming around my cpu "not sure what it was or where it came from" So I had to downgrade my bios with a floppy back to 304, tried exactly what you posted but was only able to get 3.4ghz withNB:1.34 ratio 8.5 "400x8.5" FSB 1600 vcore 1.243 in bios "cpu-z reads 1.20 for vcore" but my temps seemed to be high using stock heatsink for cpu, 65*-66*C load

I heard 302 bios is good for overclocking, I am now trying 402, and it seems fine, haven't tried any overclocking with it yet.
Also, what is the default NB voltage? It's set to auto, I put it to 1.3v, any reason to make HT to 1.4? I have it on auto along with SB.
I am using the E8400, GSKILL 2x2gb DDR2 800 with 4x4x4x12 2T
"the temp readings on this E8400 seem to not match, "my tcase is alot higher than my core temps"

Also, is your northbridge getting very hot? I read that a lot of other people have used their optional fan to cooldown their NB. "It says not to use unless you have passive or watercooling" Someone said cut a strip of paper the length of the heatsink, and place it on the top "part facing up when case is upright/part facing the cpu" & the fan clips in just fine & holds the paper there. This wont allow any warm air coming off the NB heatsink to get pushed into the cpu. Throwing off it's airflow/causing higher cpu temps.
I haven't tried this method yet, but am considering it... my NB heatsink is to hot to touch for more than 5 seconds when PC is under load.

Do you have any idea what to set the HT, NB, and SB voltages to for 1600fsb - 3.6ghz for a Q6600.. I have failed so many times on overclocking at 1600 and its because I dont know the right settings. thanks.

when you go overclocking get rid of ''all suite"thats the reasing of cpu jumping 10-60%
I am stable at 3600mhz
nb=1.36
ht=1.36
corev=1.3(1.25 in cpu-z)
mem=2.11 (4-4-4-12-2t)
sb=auto

mb temp 38 idle-45 load
cpu temp 35 idle 50 under orthos

So, I am now using the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink "with a bolt kit - free if you mail in UPC" and noticed a 12*C drop from stock. Using Arctic Silver 5, so another 2* should drop after the burn in time.
I'm using the Asus P5N-D w/ the E8400 oc to 3.6ghz w/ 4 gigs "2x2gig" DDR2 800 Gskill Ram running 4-4-4-12 2T 2.01v
Vcore:1.2125 "CPUZ reads @ 1.184"
nb: 1.32
ht: 1.32
sb: auto "I hate leaving voltage on auto but couldn't find what the stock voltage is, some say around 1.5"
FSB:1600 - x9 - Ram running on Sync settings.
Mobo temp 34 idle 38 load "I am using the NB fan that came with the mobo - I used a strip of paper to block any warm air leaving the top of the NB heatsink"
Core Temps 32 idle 45 load

I have ran Prime95 for several hours & Memtest passed when using 2.01 volts "range 2-2.1v" The lowest vcore voltage I was able to use for 3.6ghz was 1.200 in bios CPUZ reads 1.168 - Got the same temp readings as using 1.2125 "1.184 cpuz" I only ran Prime95 for an hour or so with 1.168v so I went back to 1.184 because I know it's stable & there was no temp change.

Hey Frost2KX I am currently running bios version 302.
My motherboard came stock with version 402 & I tried 502 and didn't like it so I went to 404 but I couldn't get any voltages to change after windows was booted.
Are you using the HDT-S1283 using the stock push pins? Xigmatek has been doing a free bolt kit giveaway. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread....293484&page=10

I read that version 302 is the best for overclocking and I would have to agree and would recommend it to anyone who is trying to overclock using the P5N-D
