There are volt mods for video card and motherboards. For video cards, they are used to increase the voltage to the GPU and ram, allowing for higher overclocks.

For motherboards, there are a number of volt mods. Extreme overclockers using LN will need more then the supplied voltage to the CPU, so they can do a mod to allow greater then 1.75v vcore. There are also more useful mods like the vdroop mod.

The vdroop mod reduces the amount of voltage drop to the CPU when it is put under load.

For more info, go to www.vr-zone.com

Good luck!

Changing the voltage going to a component. Usually used where there isnt a bios adjustable voltage opion say like your video card.

When you get to a certain oc with your 9600gt you would be stuck since unlike your cpu you cant add more voltage to increase your clocks. So what people do is a volt mod and there are variouse ways to do it.

You can mod the bios on some components like vid cards to change the default voltage.

You can add a variable resister at a given point to adjust voltage to what you want. This changeds the resistance and thus changes the voltage going to the component. (someone will probably jump in with the electrical equations for this but I am a mechanic, electricity hurt monkey)

Soft mods are using conductive ink or pencil to change resistance doing the same as a variable resister just you get stuck with a single voltage.

Wow I just figured out what this is used for finally. Ive been trying to overclock to 3.6 from 3.2gs and I have alot of trouble with my voltages for Vcore. I can set it at 1.45v and my bios will show it as a current voltage of 1.39 So I had to raise it even higher
1.50v to get a current voltage of 1.44v which is closer to what I want. So using this pencil mod will make the current/actual voltage show up closer to the 1.45voltage I set it at?

In this picture, is the pencil mark from one end of the red line to the other or is it in the middle. To me the mark looks like it was made in the middle
