Abit AT8-32X Fan Volt-Mod Help Needed
I have recently purchased an Abit AT8-32X motherboard. A nice feature I noticed this board had over my previous one is a glutton of 3-pin fan connectors that can be controlled by µGuru. I have a small problem though: the lowest voltage permitted for any fan is 8.0 V. At 8.0 V, my fans are still rather loud. Is there any sort of mod I can do to drop that to 7.0 V? Is it a physical mod or some sort of hacked BIOS?

You could always run them with a 4-pin molex adapter and make the + come from the 12v line and the - be the 3.3v line that way you would get 7v for the fan....
The easiest way however would just be to buy a fan controller....

Stop useing the MoBo fan controler and get a real fan controler! They are like $30 and even look cool some tell the temps of the PC too!

I only know of a 7v fan mod using the 4 pin molex connectors. I dont think it is quite what you are looking for, but maybe you can set it up for a few of the fans.

I had a "real" fan controller. I cannot use it anymore because I no longer have any open 5.25" bays. Further, it leads to a mess of wires.
I am just looking for a hardware or BIOS modification that permits me to lower the voltages of the fans further to permit quieter running, yet still permit it to volt up when needed. At present, the minimum voltage permitted is 8.0 V, the maximum is 12.0 V; I am looking to lower that minimum to 7.0 V.
